Doug Erwin is currently Chairman and Principal of RedHouse Associates which is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs accelerate the growth of early-stage information technology startups. Erwin is a serial entrepreneur with an extensive track record in leading both early and late-stage technology companies. In each he develops a blueprint for building the business, creating a unique corporate culture, expanding the company’s footprint and delivering shareholder value.

From 2006 to 2010 Erwin served as Chairman and CEO of The Planet where he oversaw the strategic vision and direction of the country’s second largest dedicated hosting provider. In 2010 the company was sold by its private equity owners. In 1997 Erwin co-founded and served for five years as chairman and CEO of PentaSafe Technologies where he led the company’s development from a start-up operation into a recognized worldwide leader in integrated security management solutions. He spearheaded PentaSafe’s growth through to its 2002 acquisition by NetIQ Corp.

Erwin served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of BMC Software, Inc., the fifth largest software developer in the United States. During his tenure, BMC experienced tremendous growth in revenues and profitability, with its market capitalization growing from $1.5 billion to $9 billion.

He has also been voted one of the Top Ten Most Influential Men in Technology in Texas. In 2006, Erwin received the Target Hunger Humanitarian Award.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for several “start-up” companies and sits on the boards of Make-a Wish, Houston Technology Center, YES Prep Public Schools and the University of Virginia Curry School Foundation.
